Warlocked - Game Boy Color

Real-time strategy gets small and supple on Game Boy Color. Humans and Beasts vie for world domination in this fast-moving Pak from UK developer Bits and publisher Nintendo. As with other real-time strategy games, both sides gather resources, construct buildings and troops, and battle the enemy.

Adding a magical twist to the straightforward action is the presence of wizards, each of whom has one powerful spell. While some wizards can convert enemy troops to your side, others can change them into chickens or skeletons. More than 20 kinds of wizards are hidden throughout the game. In single-player mode, Warlocked offers 12 single-player stages for each race. Each time you start a new game, different wizards will appear in different places. Not all wizards will be available as you advance through the game's stages. The only way to get the missing wizards is by trading with a friend via the Game Boy Color's infrared port.

You can also wage war in six specially designed two-player levels via Game Link cable. Subtle shading and detailing in the graphics give this Game Boy Color exclusive a highly realistic look and feel. The action ranges from grasslands and forests to the tropics, desert and a frigid snowscape, complete with igloos! The Beast levels have a suitably gloomy look, with blood-red buildings standing beside lakes rippling with lava.

Topping off this highly promising epic package are voice samples and a surprising amount of animation. Nintendo Power Source will have more on this game, which is slated for release later in 2000.
